Government Increasing Energy Reserves in the Country

Global political and economic conditions are changing rapidly, prompting India to strengthen its energy security. Rising tensions in the Middle East have raised concerns about possible disruptions in global oil supply.

In response, the central government has initiated special plans to increase the country’s crude oil and natural gas reserves. The goal is to ensure that India can meet its energy needs even if supply challenges arise in the future.

Currently, India relies heavily on crude oil imports from other countries. Any increase in global oil prices or disruption in supply chains can directly impact the country’s economy.

To reduce this risk, the government is exploring alternative supply routes and expanding its oil import sources. India is also adopting a strategy of purchasing crude oil from multiple countries instead of depending on a single supplier.

As part of strengthening energy security, strategic petroleum storage facilities have been set up in several locations across the country. Major facilities are already operating in Visakhapatnam, Mangalore, and Padur.

These storage facilities can supply the country’s fuel needs for a certain period during emergencies. This helps prevent shortages and ensures stability in fuel supply.

The government has clarified that there is currently no shortage of petrol, diesel, or cooking gas in the country. Strengthening long-term energy security remains a key priority for India.
